Every Sign Has a Story… This One Had Two!

Sometimes, the most interesting part of a job isn't what you can see; it's what you find along the way.
Earlier this month, we were delighted to renovate the historic sign at St James by the Park Community Hall, which is currently undergoing an exciting refurbishment.
As we carefully removed the sign ready for its makeover, we uncovered an unexpected surprise hiding beneath it… an old advert for a pirate radio station!
It was a fantastic little glimpse into the building's past and a reminder that you never quite know what you'll discover when working on older properties. Rest assured, we left the hidden advert exactly where we found it, ready for another curious soul to uncover in years to come. We like to think we've just added another chapter to its story!
With the hidden history safely preserved, we got on with giving the sign a well-deserved refresh, helping it look its best for the next generation of visitors.
Projects like this are always especially rewarding. It's a privilege to play a small part in preserving local heritage while ensuring these much-loved community spaces continue to look welcoming for years to come.
We're looking forward to seeing the refurbishment completed and wish everyone at St James by the Park Church the very best with the rest of the project. Be sure to have a look through the photos. You'll spot both the restored sign and its unexpected little secret!
