A Little Class 60 TLC (full wrap!) at Boden Rail
There are some jobs in the railway world that are all about big machines, heavy lifting and serious engineering. And then there are the jobs where you get to make a pair of locomotives look rather smart.
This week, we headed to Boden Rail in Nottingham to fully wrap two more Class 60s for EPR Ltd. Naturally, we were more than happy to get stuck in.
The locomotives had been maintained by Boden Rail ready to be wrapped by our team – making a remarkable difference. With plenty of measuring, positioning, smoothing and the occasional step backwards to admire our handiwork, the transformation began.
There's something particularly satisfying about wrapping a locomotive. Unlike a van or a car, there's absolutely no shortage of surface area, although that doesn't necessarily mean everything is straightforward! Getting everything lined up neatly on a machine of this size takes a good eye, a steady hand and a healthy respect for just how much metal is involved.
Once the final pieces were in place, both Class 60s were looking considerably sharper and ready for their next chapter.
A big thanks to everyone at Boden Rail for the hospitality and for helping us get the job done. It's always a pleasure working around proper railway machinery, especially when the end result is two very large locomotives looking a little more dressed for the occasion.
Another couple of locomotives smartened up and ready to earn their keep.
